Overview
Target Publication: Outlier Today
The intersection of pharmaceutical innovation, intellectual property rights, and global public health presents one of the most critical bioethical dilemmas of our era. While patent protection guarantees R&D incentives for pharmaceutical companies, global supply chain inequalities often deprive other nations—particularly underdeveloped or developing countries—of timely access to life-saving vaccines. During major global health crises and epidemics, should these patents be temporarily waived (patent waiver), opened to compulsory licensing, or should property rights continue to be protected?
